My Training

My doctoral training included extensive work in functional neuroimaging, cognitive neuroscience, and neuropsychological assessment, all of which continue to shape the way I understand emotion, behavior, relationships, and change. I am able to give you feedback on how your lived experiences and nervous system work together. While we will never fully understand exactly how you came to be the person you are, your internal experiences do not need to feel like a “black box.”

During my time at the VA, I received advanced training in several psychotherapy approaches supported by psychological research, including CPT, ACT, STAIR, and CBT for Substance Use Disorders. Over time, I provided long-term, in-depth supervision to interns and fellows completing their clinical training. I later became a national consultant, providing consultation to fellow VA clinicians on their work with Veterans.

Alongside my formal training, I have come to appreciate that meaningful change often happens within the context of a strong therapeutic relationship. My clinical approach uses evidence-based psychotherapy that is tailored to each individual, with the goal of creating therapy that is both psychologically rigorous and deeply personal.
