Trauma & PTSD
You may find yourself reacting strongly to situations that seem small on the surface, feeling emotionally shut down, constantly on edge, or repeating patterns in relationships that you don’t fully understand. These patterns can emerge in the aftermath of trauma, including childhood abuse, complex family dynamics, and experiences that may feel difficult to name or discuss openly. Trauma is not always experienced as vivid memories or obvious flashbacks. Sometimes it shows up in the ways we protect ourselves from vulnerability, respond to stress and uncertainty, or struggle to feel emotionally safe with other people. Therapy can help make sense of those patterns and create the possibility of moving through life with greater freedom, flexibility, and self-understanding.
Relevant treatment approaches include Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Skills Training in Affective and Interpersonal Regulation (STAIR).
